BIO

During Bob Krulish’s tenure at Nationwide Insurance and Safeco, he saw a doctor for stress related symptoms and was incorrectly diagnosed with depression. He was placed on a medication that would ultimately cause his life to be ruined. Once Bob received the proper diagnosis of Bipolar 1 Disorder, he was able to slowly put his life back together and soon found the strength to share his struggles with others. Now, he teaches and trains parents how to best support their mentally ill adult child and through his teachings, he seeks to eliminate the suffering for those both afflicted and affected by serious mental illness.

Bob holds a national certification from the Copeland Center to teach their Wellness Recovery Action Plan Course. He teaches the In Our Own Voice (IOOV) Program for the State of Washington through the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), has given more than one hundred IOOV talks and has served multiple times on the board of directors for NAMI Eastside, most recently as their Treasurer. Additionally, Bob is certified through the Henry Amador Center on Anosognosia, founded by Dr. Xavier Amador, to teach their LEAP Workshop based on his book I'm Not Sick, I Don't Need Help. Through his workshops, talks and media appearances, Bob has impacted thousands.

He is the recipient of NAMI Eastside’s 2022 Mental Health Hero Award for all the ways he has impacted NAMI and mental health awareness and education. He is also the recipient of NAMI Washington’s 2022 John Freeburg Consumer Advocate of the Year Award which recognizes a person living with mental illness who has shown leadership on behalf of NAMI Washington or a NAMI Washington Affiliate by supporting and advocating for others living with mental illness.

Bob is also the author of When Scream Become Whispers, an Amazon #1 New Release, and is currently launching an online video masterclass, offering group and private trainings and regularly teaches his Asking for Change workshops, all based on cutting-edge evidence-based research, as a pioneer in the field of serving parents of an adult loved one with a mental illness. Through this work, he continues to build his audience by speaking about hope and recovery. Bob lives just outside of Seattle, WA.
